Nate Schierholtz, who has never played left field in his major league career, will be moved to left to make space in right field for new acquisition Carlos Beltran, Schierholtz told CSNBayArea.com Wednesday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy informed Schierholtz prior to Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, hours after the Beltran deal became public.

The Giants' home, AT&T Park, boasts one of the most difficult right fields to handle defensively, and Schierholtz has developed a sure hand out in the archways.

Schierholtz, 27, has played all 84 of his games this season in right field, where he has a .992 fielding percentage (one error in 126 chances).
